That’s a bit of a difference from the novel, but I guess it’s easier to fit in a movie than the novel’s whole paranoia thing about Peter Guillam’s girlfriend being possibly married, possibly too young, possibly etc. would be. They barely made a mention of Guillam’s personal life in the TV miniseries version. Also, if the older man is who I think it is…then that’s very twisty indeed.
